My message to the Governing Body - The Results of the 2011 Global Survey
by cedars inexcuse the rather pretentious title of this thread, but it has been decided that the best way of getting a message to the governing body is just to post it prominently online.
whether they choose to condescend to read the survey results or not is up to them, but the likelihood is far greater if i publically "throw down the gauntlet" via our web pages.. anyway, my message to the governing body (in case you want to read it) together with the 2011 survey results in downloadable pdf format can be found on the following link:.

Does anyone here know of anyone anywhere, who has compiled a list of the known and convicted Jehovah's Witness paedophiles and their sentences, or the number of victims who have settled out of court?

The teen daughter claimed the reason she hid certain behaviour from her parents was she was worried they would disown her if they knew what she really got up to. The parents replied they loved her and would never do that!!!!!

Abortion double standards
by Flat_Accent inobviously the wt is pro-life when it comes to abortion, whatever the circumstances (a viewpoint completely devoid of human empathy, a quality which they consider so important) according to the bible, life begins at conception, and deliberately terminating a pregnancy is punishable with death.. but are unborn foetuses going to be resurrected?
no.. it seems that embryo's are 'human' enough for god to be pissed if you abort one, but not human enough for him to care about giving a second chance after armageddon.. another idea that's been repeated to me by several witnesses, is that some children (only the angelic like ones of course, not the little hellions that run around stepping on frogs) will survive armageddon, because they can not have made a proper decision about serving god.
but a worldly woman who is pregnant will die, thus condemning herself and her unborn to everlasting destruction.. a bit unfair isn't it?.

There is no God. There is no resurrection. An aborted foetus has had any potential ended.

I believe this to be only partially true.
As a witness I would never have tried to keep a pet that was disallowed as a condition of my tenancy agreement but on the other hand I love being free to give to charity and the many homeless here in Southsea.
I love love love handing cash to people worse off than myself.
In fact, it is possible that I get more of a buzz giving them the money than they do receiving it.

What are the worst pictures in My Book of Bible Stories?
by cedars ina few comments from muddy waters and mummatron on another thread peaked my curiosity and led me to revisit some of the illustrations in the my book of bible stories.
i don't appear to have my old copy from when i was a child (thankfully), so i checked out the images over on watchtower.org where the entire book can be read online.
the images below are taken from what is displayed on that website, although it wouldn't surprise me if there are equally awful images that haven't been used.. so which of the images below are the most grotesque and inappropriate for children?

The image in my mind of a baby being cut in two was the one that gave me nightmares.
I was an adult so for children to be exposed to such a concept has to be, in my opinion, abuse.

How did our parents do it?
by pbrow inhow did you bury your head in the sand when something didnt seem right but you forced this religion on your kids anyway?
i was a born in, my mother was a convert.
ill admit, before i had kids i suppressed doubts and thought "this is as close as it gets to the truth" as soon as i had kids and realized that i now had to teach this garbage to my kids w/out really believing it was enough to get me to realize the cognitive dissonance stops here.

"Feeling sorry for yourself" about being hit by your husband is not Christian 2/15/12 WT Page 25 P 12
by yourmomma inhave anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

I showed the article to a friend who is a Police Constable and sees first hand the results of domestic violence. Her first reaction was not what I was expecting. She thought it was a joke and that someone had done it as a parody of my former religion. After convincing her it was nether a parody or mock up of a real Watchtower she was shocked and appalled that such an article could even be written. Sadly, this will not be the reaction of most jws but hopefully it will wake up a few more to the realisation that it is a misogynistic, mind controlling cult.

I just finished reading Combatting Cult Mind Control. The parallels between all cults surprised me and although he doesn't mention Jws once the control used over it's members is very similar. The issue which is not addressed is that most of those rescued and deprogrammed had not wasted their entire lives in the cult. Most rescued were young and with the help of family and friends able to go on to live normal lives. Born in and subsequent loss of family on exiting the cult was also not mentioned. I will be reading Releasing the Bonds next.
